My technique combines my educated understanding of anatomy with my natural intuition, communicative hands, and comforting presence to provide a unique, holistic service. I feel very strongly that bodywork provides us with a greater awareness of what we love about ourselves and what we need to change within ourselves. I respect that each of us must approach healing in our own way and I am committed to listening, communicating and learning new ways to guide you as you evolve.

Basic Massage

My basic massage is anything but basic!  In technical terms, my work is a blend of classic Swedish relaxation massage techniques, focused deep tissue work, myofascial release, passive stretching and range of motion, sports massage, emotional & physical injury work, and a heavy serving of intuitive bodywork.  I use all of my senses to listen to your mind, body & spirit and customize each session to you.  I custom blend all of my oils and cremes adding healing herbs, resins, essential oils and a positive healing intention.  I use light, medium or firm pressure depending on your needs and wishes.  This treatment is a great introduction to my more advanced work, and is perfect for anyone in need of tension and/or pain relief.

Pregnancy Massage

Whether you are trying to get pregnant, expecting a child, or enjoying your brand new baby, chances are everyone is telling you to relax, de-stress and be good to yourself.  You are making room emotionally, physically and spiritually for this amazing new adventure.  Allow me to assist you as you transform!  For those looking to conceive, consider my basic massage or Lomi Lomi treatment to help you relax and open yourself up to possibility.  For expectant mothers, enjoy my Pregnancy Massage starting in the second trimester to help your body flow more easily into the ever-changing postures of pregnancy.  For new moms, give yourself a guilt free time out. It is so important during this time of caring for your newborn to make sure you are being cared for as well.

Deep Tissue Therapy

Although I often use firm pressure in my Basic Massage, I recognize that some situations call for true deep tissue therapy.  This is for clients who have adhesions, scar tissue, restricted range of motion from old injuries, or who have muscle tissue that is more dense than average.  Though it can be uncomfortable as I am working through several layers of connective tissue, there should not be lasting discomfort or injury.  I ask clients to communicate with me periodically throughout the session to make sure injury is not occurring.  Clients with bone health, or clotting issues or who are taking certain medications, like steroids, are not candidates for deep tissue therapy.

Previous to becoming a body worker I was in Web Design, working for long hours behind a desk under stressful deadlines.  I remember what that did to my body and so I created a special series of techniques for treating job related stress focusing on the hips, back, neck, shoulders, arms & hands.  This session is particularly effective after a stressful period at work or for relieving stress before a vacation so you can transition into relaxation!  This session is offered for 30 or 60min.

Imagine that you are a lava rock beach and my hands and forearms are a warm Pacific Ocean wave pouring over you, washing away your tension and pain.  Imagine that you are a child and my arms are vines growing up a strong tree, cradling you in a safe, sacred and loving space, holding reverence for your mind, body, and spirit, helping you climb to the highest branches.  Lomi is a sacred Hawaiian healing art used in times of transition as a supportive and nurturing ritual.  Lomi means to massage in Hawaiian and when Hawaiians want to show that something is really great or important, they say it twice!  This amazing bodywork ritual requires a great deal of intention and trust so I ask anyone interested to please call me first so we can discuss the treatment and make sure it is right for you.

Massage Instruction for Couples
It has been my great pleasure to teach mini massage workshops for couples at Massage Therapy Works. I teach basic massage techniques, but above all I am showing people how to listen with their hands and ignite their sense of touch as a way to communicate.  It's a safe and caring place to learn professional techniques for relaxation and therapy at home.  Compassionate, non-sexual touch is an incredible way to increase emotional intimacy in your relationship!
